King Street.  This was St. Croix's Main Street.  Many of the businesses were on this street during my years on St. Croix.

Shot taken from Fisher Street.  It's the rest of the ruins
of the house seen at left, and below with staircase.
In the days this was an
incredible staircase.
"Güené" Belardo once had a restaurant in the
corner building.  Now it's a clothing store.
This was once a two story structure.  Angel "Chico"
Morales had a restaurant downstairs, the family lived
upstairs.
The Ramirez family had a grocery store in
the corner building.
Mr. Padilla lived in this house and also had his
law office here.  See plaque below.

This ruin was once a house.  Next to it is a
building that for a while housed a club, Birdland
Part of Cumberland Castle.  Also see below.
Cinderella.  Titi Garcia once had a store here, now owned
by one of my sisters.  (June 2020 - No longer owned by
my sister.)
This was always a ruin while growing up on St. Croix.
Remember Brow soda?  They once
operated out of this building and next one.
Yellow building - The other side of what was a
warehouse now part of the F'sted Mall.
For your shoes - Bata
In this area once stood wood structures, homes.  Tía  and
Don Carmelo lived in one of the structures that stood
here originally.  They also owned the Caribbean Bar, which
was on King St.  New structure has been a pharmacy,
various offices, and residences.
Where the lady is sitting - "Good Fit" Gustave James'
shoe store.  He'd say they were a "good fit" to make a sale.

Tennis and basketball courts at the end of King Street.  
For many years the Christmas Village were held here.
King Street looking south from Custom House Street. Orange looking building on the
left was once only 1 story and I always recall it being a bar.
This house is on King Cross between King and Queen Streets, closer to King.  
House is presently  abandoned.  Over the years it has been a residential building.

"12 King Street" - Two story , masonry, residence and shop with 4 arcades on
lower floor and gingerbread trim on second story balcony.  Studio of
photographer Alex Ovesen and birthplace of Evelyn Richardson.  Owners
include Samuel Wescott's children 1864 - 1950, Wenona de Castro 1950-1979."

Where Ovesen family once lived, King Street
Cumberland Castle.  The Castle extended to the corner of Queen Cross
Street and the yard (behind a wall) extended half way up Queen Cross
Street!!   This castle in its good days was fit for a king and his queen!

August 2013 - There was a lot of damage in Frederiksted when  Hurricane Hugo hit the island in 1989.  More damage
occurred when other hurricanes passed over the island years later.   What Hugo did not blow down other hurricanes
did.  Some houses were repaired.  Many houses were never repaired and still stand today in disrepair.  
The island residents discuss things in reference to Hugo - Before Hugo and After Hugo.  
Small structure with red stairs was once a residence
but for a long time it was a barber shop.
