This is the statue that stood facing the Queen Mary Highway
(Centerline Road) on the St. Joseph's High School campus.

When I began going to the school, I think there were 9
buildings.  The one you can see clearly in this picture was
the administrative offices and the library.  For a while it was
also used as the cafeteria.

When it rained heavily most of the classrooms leaked!
We'd have pails all over the rooms collecting the water

The buildings were connected by a sidewalk in the shape
of an octagon.

Eventually a gym was built to the western part of the
campus.  The cafeteria was moved to the same building
with the gym.  The cafeteria/gym was destroyed by
a hurricane

Unfortunately, this statue no longer exists.  If it was not
destroyed by a hurricane, it was vandalized.  A sign now
stands in its place.

Can you believe it's been 40 years since I graduated from high school?  How time flies when you are having fun!
Photos are from the 1969 Octagon Life yearbook!   2009 was our 40th year reunion but I was not able to make it!

A photo of the Octagon, the campus of St. Joseph High School.
The caption under the photo reads:

On June 18, 1969, the keys are brought out again - this time the busses are
turned off, lockers are unlocked for the last time, classrooms are closed and
locked for the summer and another year is over at St. Joseph High School.
